November 2025 Meeting
The November 2025 meeting of LRUG will be on Monday the 10th of November, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (meeting starts at 6:30pm).
This month we’re hosted by the lovely folk at Board intelligence in their offices, near Bank. Full venue and registration details are given below.
Agenda
Durable messaging and related patterns in Ruby, for fun and profit. But mostly just fun.
Ismael Celis says:
I’ll explore how architecting Ruby apps around a durable message log enables different patterns, from asynchronous processing, to event sourcing and durable execution
How do you solve a problem like DHH?
James Smith says:
In September, DHH, the creator of Rails and community figurehead, wrote a factually incorrect post bemoaning the state of London these days, claiming that it’s no longer “native British”, and promoting far right agitator Tommy Robinson.
At a time when the far right is rising in the UK, is this the figurehead our community needs? Can we separate technology and political views? Should we?
This is less of a talk, and more of an opportunity for discussion - does something need to change, and if so, how? And if not, what does that mean for the Ruby and Rails communities?
Afterwards
When the talks come to an end we’ll decamp to a local pub for some food, some drinks and some chat with your fellow attendees.
Of course, even though this is the socialising part and seems more informal, please remember that still we consider it to be a part of the meeting and covered by our code of conduct.
Venue & Registration
Prior to attending you should familiarise yourself with our README paying close attention to the code of conduct which applies to all attendees.
